Thomas D. Woods

1939 ~ 2024

Lake Leelanau - Thomas David Woods, 84, of Lake Leelanau, passed away peacefully at Munson Hospice House on May 1, 2024.

Tom was born on December 26, 1939 in Bay City to the late Orville Joseph and Anna (Lenhart) Woods.

On September 30, 1961, he married Karla Kay Case in Traverse City.

Tom served our country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force from 1959 - 1984 as a computer maintenance/tech controller for 15 years and an aircraft maintenance officer for 10+ years. He then moved back to Traverse City after moving around during his Air Force career and worked at United Technologies from 1984-2000. Tom was a proud member of the VFW. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the casino.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife Karla and brothers Richard and Robert Woods.

Tom is survived by his son David ( Julie) Woods of Holt, Timothy (Dawn) Woods of Lake Orion; grandchildren Thomas, Cayla and Corinna; and sisters-in-law Richard Kathy Woods and Beth Woods. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 3:00pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to the Wounded Warriors.
