Mary D. Latham Sare


1907-2007

Services will be held in Loveland, Colo., for Mary D. Latham Sare who died March 13 at her home at the Just A Whisper assisted living residence in Lake Leelanau. She was 99.
She was born Sept. 28, 1907, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Harry T. Latham and Mary Dunn Latham. In 1933, she married Dale W. Sare who preceded her in death in 1976.

A graduate of Indiana University, she worked in journalism for many years before becoming a teacher. She also lived in Colorado, Washington, and Holland, Mich., before moving to the Traverse City area in 2003 with her daughter and family. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three children, Sally (Delbert) Michel of Suttons Bay, John W. (Margaret Rundicks) Sare of Denver, Colo., and William B. Sare of Hendersonville, N.C.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
