The Botanical Garden Society of Northwest Michigan will host the second annual Garden Run and picnic lunch on Saturday, May 5, in Grand Traverse County.
The Garden Run is a fundraiser for the non-profit group, which is working to establish a year-round botanical garden.
The event will be held on 81 acres on Vanderlip Road in East Bay Township and include 10K and 5K races, and 3K run/walk. The races will be held between 8:30 and 10:15 a.m., and will be followed by a free lunch for all participants.
The cost is $25 person for the 10K and 5K runs, and $25 per family for the 3K even through April 28. Afterward, the cost is $30 for each category. Parking for the run will be at the Grand Traverse Academy lot off Three Mile Road, with a bus shuttle to the race area.
The cost includes T-shirt for those registered by April 28, and the picnic lunch that features a hot dog roast, chips, beverage, dessert, and more. For an additional $10 donation, registrants will receive a one-year Botanical Garden
Society membership. Dozens of prizes have also been donated by local businesses and will be awarded by a random drawing of all event participants.
The race is being sponsored by Traverse City State Bank. For more information, call 938-9511.
