Salary increases for township officers totaling $2,000 are included in the proposed 2007-08 Centerville Township budget, which will be reviewed at 10 a.m. Saturday during the Annual Meeting of township inhabitants.
A $1,000 salary hike is proposed for the treasurer, while $500 increases for the supervisor and clerk are earmarked. If the raises are supported by those in attendance Saturday, the annual pay for the treasurer will go to $10,350 for the treasurer, $8,000 for the supervisor, and $10,000 for the clerk.
The raises would be more than offset by an overall $5,400 increase in revenue that will bring 2007-08 township income to $158,900. State shared revenue represents $70,000 of the total. Revenue for this line item stood at $66,459 in the present fiscal year, which ends March 31, as of March 22. Revenue from the township’s allocated levy will come it $3,000 more than this year at $51,000.
In addition to officials’ wages, major expenses for Centerville include $48,500 for fire and rescue operations. The township operates the Cedar Fire Department with Solon Township.
Some $20,000 is identified for legal fees in the 2007-08 spending plan. In addition, $13,000 is listed in contractual services for assessing, $12,000 for repairs and maintenance of the township hall, and $6,000 for insurance.
As of March 28, Supervisor Leonard Kelenski estimated the township’s fund balance at $214,000.
The Annual Meeting will take place at the township hall, located at the intersection of French and Bodus roads.
