Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm has declared April "Michigan Wine Month" to honor the wine industry's contribution to the state economy.

There are several events planned this spring throughout the state that provide opportunities to meet winemakers and sample a variety of Michigan wines. Locally, the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners will feature “Women’s Wine Weekend” May 4-5.

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail will host “Spring into Summer” April 21-22. A wine and food festival will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort April 27-29, and “Blossom Days” will feature the wineries of Old Mission May 19-20.
