A 48-year-old Centerville Township man died Saturday evening at Munson Medical Center as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Emergency services personnel responded shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday to a home on Cherry Street, near Sugar Loaf.

Gerald L. Gibson, a Leland native, was transported to the Traverse City hospital and placed on life support.
He died about 9:30 p.m.
