Gerald Lloyd Gibson
Friends may join the family for a memorial gathering on Saturday, March 31, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Bluebird restaurant in Leland for Gerald Lloyd Gibson of Cedar who died March 24 at Munson Medical Center. He was 48.
He was born Oct. 13, 1958, in Northport, the son of the late Lloyd Edward Gibson and Jeanetta (Whitehead) Gibson who survives. On July 5, 1987, in Leland, he married Ellen May Craker, who survives.
He was a lifelong Leelanau County resident and a graduate of Leland High School. He worked as a chef at the Leland Lodge and King’s Challenge Steak Haus, in building construction with his father, and more recently as an antique furniture restorer. He enjoyed hunting and the game of Sodoku.
Also surviving are his three sons, Joshua Craker, Jordan Gibson and Calvin Gibson; siblings, Carl Hagstrom, Wayne Gibson, Barbara Norwood, Mark Swarz, Cheryl McDaniel, Matthew Swarz and Richard Swarz.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Swarz.
Burial will be in Birchwood Cemetery in Leland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to an educational trust for Jordan or Calvin Gibson, c/o Huntington National Bank, P.O. Box 596, Leland, MI 49654.
