The Glen Lake girls’ and boys’ track teams yielded good results at the Grand Valley University Indoor Track meet last week.
The boys’ team competed on Wednesday, March 21, while the girls’ squad was in action at Grand Valley the following day.
Boys’ coach Pete Edwards said senior Weston Buchan took second in the long jump (20’ 3/4”), a personal best.
Buchan was the only Laker boy to place in an event at Grand Valley. He also finished strongly in the 50-meter dash (6.45 seconds), Edwards said.
Other personal-best finishes for the Lakers were recorded by John Lee in the mile run (5:14), and Wyatt Deering in the 400 meter (56.37).
For the girls’ team, senior Marissa Treece won the 800-meter (2:20.4) and mile run (5:07.8). Dani Frost finished ninth in the shot put (30’11”), Abbie Christiansen took 10th in the long jump (13’ 1”), and Amber Therrien was 10th in the 800 (2:39.5).
Treece, Therrien, Ashley Leach and Victoria Pecak took sixth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:40.1).
