Suttons Bay resident Ruth M. Schaub was installed as the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALS) Certifying Board’s vice-chairman for 2007-08 at the group’s annual conference March 10 in Tulsa, Okla.
The NALS is responsible for certifying more than 8,200 legal professionals nationwide. Schaub, who has more than 20 years experience in the legal field, is a trial paralegal with Parsons Ringsmuth PLC in Traverse City, specializing in plaintiff’s personal injury litigation, and is one of only 356 certified professional paralegals in the country.
In her NALS post, she will oversee a committee that drafts the national certification exams for legal professionals, including the certified professional paralegal exam. In 2006-07, Schaub was responsible for drafting and revising the law section of the certified professional paralegal exam. She currently serves as First-Vice President of NALS of Michigan, the state association for legal professionals.
A 1976 graduate of Glen Lake Schools, Schaub earned her associate’s degree in claims from the Insurance Institute of America and was a 4.0 honor student at the legal assistant program at Northwestern Michigan College.
She is married to John M. Schaub of Suttons Bay.
