Children's Center plans 'Lunch with Maggie'

The Leelanau Children’s Center is inviting the community to attend "Lunch with Maggie" at noon on Tuesday at Stone House Cafe in Leland.

Wildfire threat brings warning

It’s wildfire season and Leelanau County fire marshal Robert VanDyke is urging residents to observe caution.
Last Thursday, March 29, firefighters from the Solon-Centerville, Elmwood and Suttons Bay-Bingham fire departments responded to a two-acre brushfire in Solon Township on Weisler Road near Gallivan Road. Two nearby homes narrowly escaped damage.

Cedar Rod, Gun Club's smelt dinner set Friday

It will mostly be the same guys — and gals — but in a new year and with new smelt.
The 47th annual Cedar Rod and Gun Club smelt dinner will open its doors at 3 p.m. on Good Friday, and if history holds, a lineup will be waiting outside the Solon Township Hall.
