JIM FOSTER of Cherry Bay Orchards backs up after unloading a pile of brush on a burning pile at the farm near the corner of County Road 633 and Lakeview Hills Road last week. “It’s like spring cleaning. After the brush was pruned, we burned it to get the orchard cleaned up,” he said. Meanwhile, it’s wildfire season in Leelanau County and the county fire marshal is urging residents to observe caution, and obtain burn permits, when burning debris.
