Officials at Suttons Bay Public Schools have narrowed a pool of 58 candidates for the position of high school principal to eight and will conduct public interviews beginning next week, according to superintendent Mike Murray.
Current Suttons Bay High School principal Sue Rummel will leave her post at the end of the school year.
Murray said the public is invited to attend interviews of the eight finalists on Wednesday, April 11; Friday, April 13; and Monday, April 16. Following is the schedule:
• April 11, at 5 p.m. Ben Williams, a principal from Henderson County, N.C.;
• April 11, at 6 p.m., Derrel Kent, a principal from Atlanta (Mich.) Community Schools;
• April 11, at 7 p.m., Ben Lantz, a teacher at Suttons Bay High School;
• April 11, at 8 p.m., Raphael Rittenhouse, assistant principal at Traverse City West Senior High School;
• April 13 at 5 p.m., John Broome, principal of LaFollette High School in Madison, Wis.;
• April 13 at 6 p.m., Susan Renaud, assistant principal of Mt. Pleasant High School;
• April 13 at 8 p.m., Terry Emery, principal of Pellston High School; and
• April 16 at 7 p.m., Craig Lehrke, from Bad Axe, Mich. Lehrke’s interview was scheduled to accommodate his U.S. Naval Reserve training obligation, Murray explained.
