Cinderella ballet to include several dancers from county

Several students with Leelanau County connections will be among the performers in the Dance Center Youth Ensemble's production of Cinderella on Saturday and Sunday at Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City.

The Cinderella ballet is an adaption of the classic story that combines music, dance, drama and comedy.

Kaitlynn Schneider of Elmwood Township will dance the lead role of Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, which will be performed on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s performances take place at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., while Sunday’s shows will be at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Schneider is a senior at Traverse City West High School and has been dancing at The Dance Center for 13 years.

Grace Springsteen, an eighth-grade student at Glen Lake Middle School, will dance the parts of Winter Fairy and as Lead Court Dancer at the ball. She has studied dance at The Dance Center for 10 years.

Ashley Baumann of Cedar is a sophomore at Traverse City West High School, and has been dancing for 11 years. She will dance as a lead Season Fairy in the woodland scene.

Glen Lake 6th-grade student Tayler Galla of Maple City, a seven-year veteran at The Dance Center and also a member of the DC Dance team, will dance the parts of a Lead Fairy in the woodland scene and court dancer at the ball.

Mitchell Drilling of Elmwood Township, a sixth grade student at Grand Traverse Academy, has been dancing for six years. He will dance as Escort to lead fairy, and as a court dancer at the ball.

Korin Drilling, DCYE director and choreographer, is director of the production. Joining in developing the choreography were Sarah Lowe, Tera Garrow and Rachel Thomas, all of The Dance Center.

This will be the seventh full-length ballet presented by the DCYE.
