Fiber artists are invited to attend a Fiber Institute meeting on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Art Building in Leland.
The group plans to develop a series of workshops to be held in conjunction with the Leelanau Community Cultural Center’s (LCCC) annual Fiber Festival in October. All fiber artists, working in both traditional and fine arts, are encouraged to bring their ideas, interests and resources to continue this planning from the initial meeting in January.
General discussion topics will be on the purpose and objective of the group; a theme for this year’s workshops; a volunteer to form an Internet site for resources and information exchange; and developing outreach fiber art projects with area schools. A committee chaired by Desiree Vaughn of Suttons Bay is being formed to develop a vision statement and schedule classes and lecturers.
Further information is available by calling Judy Livingston at the LCCC, 256-2131.
