To celebrate National Library Week, the Leland Township Library will host an open house from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.

Lenny McNeil and Johnny Rutherford will provide live guitar music starting at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments, treats for children, and special story times will be part of the celebration.

The library is also offering a story time on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. for parents and preschool-age children through 5 years of age. Story time, presented by Parenting Communities, is a chance for parents and children to interact while enjoying books.

Other ongoing events and projects at the Leland library in April include:

• Being a drop-off site for the Leelanau Baby Pantry diaper drive. Donation of new diapers is welcome, especially in sizes 3-6. A drop-off box is located at the library and the drive continues through April.

• Library staff members are working on improving the library’s website, www.lelandtownshiplibrary.com. Library patrons may open an account online, and review the catalog of books, digital video discs, music CDs and other recordings.

• Patrons can get access, at no charge, to books the library does not have through the Inter Library Loan Program.

• The library now has four public computer stations for public use, and wireless access for laptop computers.

• Signup for a Junior Master Gardener class is taking place at the library. Classes will be held this summer from 1-3 p.m., at the library and The Old Art Building on Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning July 11. Registration forms are also available at the library.
