Rachael Brehler, daughter of Ken and Lynn Brehler of Elmwood Township, was awarded student of the month honors from both the Traverse City Kiwanis Club and the Career Tech Center.

Brehler, a homeschooled student finishing up her high school studies, is also attending the Career Tech Center and Northwestern Michigan College. She is working toward receiving a CNA (certified nursing assistant) and is a two-year member of the National Technical Honors Society, where she currently holds office as secretary. She previously played basketball for the Traverse City Bulldogs homeschool team, and participated in the 4-H livestock program raising dairy feeders and swine.

She also enjoys playing the harp and working with her horses, and was previously employed at the Michigan State Horticultural Research Station in Bingham Township.

She plans to continue her studies through the University Center, and will seek a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
