Families are invited to a free day of hands-on activities with llamas and alpacas on Saturday, May 19.
Snow Moon Ranch, the home of Great Lakes Llamas and Suri Alpacas and owned by Juliet Berkshire Sprouse, is the site of the “Hum-a-long North Weekend.” It is located at 10114 Bow Rd., at the southeast end of Big Glen Lake.
Several events are scheduled with the animals from noon to 5 p.m., including demonstrations and training on subjects such as feeding, using wool, and carting the animals. Other activities will include a silent auction, “Leaping Llama,” “Llama Limbo,” and some timed and family llama events.
On Sunday, May 20, there will be three classes offered for youth ages 3-19, as well as adults. The courses will cover showmanship, obstacle course, and pack course. The public is invited to this free showing as well., with Sunday’s events starting at 9 a.m.
No experience with or knowledge of llamas is necessary. For more information, call 228-6128.
