Conservancy is holding events at DeYoung site

Ecological restoration at the DeYoung Natural Area will be the focus of a program sponsored by the Leelanau Conservancy.
Docent Richard Fidler will talk about the Conservancy plans to control the invasive species that inhabit it at the natural area Friday.

Group seeking boat donations for auction

The Maritime Heritage Alliance is seeking donations of boats and other maritime equipment for its annual boat auction on June 9.

LaCrosses welcome birth of baby boy

Ben and Kelsey LaCross of Cedar are the parents of a baby boy, born March 27 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Keaton Casper LaCross weighed 5 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 inches in length at birth.
Paternal grandparents are Glenn and Judy LaCross of Cedar. Maternal grandparents are Dee and Nancy Hewitt of Frankfort.

Fowlers celebrate 50th

James and Barbara Fowler of Glen Arbor marked their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 2.
James Fowler and the former Barbara McCabe were married on Feb. 2, 1957 at the LaGrange (Ill.) First Baptist Church. The couple plans a 50th wedding celebration at the Brookwood Golf Club in Flint on May 7.

Kristin Marie Szypka of Detroit and Emil Simon Bunek III of Troy were united in marriage on Feb. 17.
