The Suttons Bay Township and Village of Suttons Bay planning commissions were slated to hold yet another joint meeting May 9 as part of a continuing effort to coordinate their actions.
Planners from both municipalities are collaborating on drafting a joint master plan. This week, the two commissions were slated to meet with the attorney they both employ, Bryan Graham, to discuss procedures they use to review site plans.
The Suttons Bay Township Planning Commission held its regular monthly meeting May 2 and also discussed the status of a Coastal Zone Management grant being sought from the state that will allow township and village planners to create new maps for their joint master plan.
In addition, township planners decided to adopt a modification to their bylaws that outline rules for public comment at planning commission meetings. In addition, planners removed from their bylaws a requirement to maintain a “farmland conservation committee.”
Staff planner Rochelle Rollenhagen said the committee hadn’t met in years, and commissioners decided the committee didn’t need to be addressed in their bylaws.
Rollenhagen said that at the commission’s next regular monthly meeting, June 6, planners are slated to discuss several draft definitions that may be added to the township zoning ordinance.
Last week’s meeting “was a very short one,” Rollenhagen reported.
