A special meeting of the Solon Township Board, an annual gathering of sorts with groups and individuals involved with township operations, will be held tonight in Cedar.

The 7 p.m. meeting was scheduled when Township Board members met May 10 for their monthly meeting.

“We hold this meeting every year to be sure we’re not duplicating what’s being done and everyone is working together,” Treasurer Joan Gauthier said.

Tonight’s meeting will include the Township Board, which includes Supervisor Carl (Ron) Williams, Clerk Shirley Petroskey, Gauthier, and trustees Bob Dezelski and George Rosinski. Also attending will be the Planning Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the township attorney, zoning administrator and assessor.

This may be the first time several of the parties have met at the zame time.

Board members last week appointed Tim Cypher of Lake Leelanau as zoning administrator, replacing Marvin Radtke Jr., who resigned last month. Township assessor Marcie Hester is also expected to attend the meeting, one week after last week’s reappointment.

In other business during last week’s month meeting the board:

• Approved payment of a $5,725 insurance premium for 2007-08 to Municipal Underwriters of Michigan;

• Noted that several duties need attending at the township recreational fields in Cedar. They include rototilling the playground, emptying trash bins, depositing more beach sand at the playground, and adding more “no parking” signs at specific sites.
