Suttons Bay competed at the Lake City Invitational Saturday, with the boys’ team finishing third in the eight-team meet while the Norse girls were fifth.
Kingsley won both the boys’ and girls’ meet.
The only first-place finish for the boys came from Ben Wynsma in the 3200 in 10:34. He also added a second-place finish in the 1600 (4:45), and joined teammates Brandon Morio, Drew Palmer and Mark Jasinski in taking second in the 3200 relay (8:43).
Other top performances came from Kegan Rummel, second in the discus (129’ 11”); Eric Hernandez, second in the 100 meter (11:38); and Morio, third in the 800 meter (2:12). Three Norse relay teams also placed third, including Blaine Fritz, Alex Dingrando, Ryan Gardner and Morio in the 1600 relay (3:48); Hernandez, Dingrando, Morio and Nick Porritt in the 800 relay (1:38); and Hernandez, Dingrando, Porritt and John Visser in the 400 relay (2:12).
Jenny Mahla (4’ 10” in high jump) and Elizabeth Adams (12:55 in 3200) had the only individual second-place finishes for the Suttons Bay girls. Adams also teamed with Cassandra Buffum, Lizzy Freed and Brianna Korson to take second in the 3200 relay (10:41).
Third-place finishers for the Suttons Bay girls included Buffum in the 3200 meter (12:57), Caleigh Lennerth in the 300 hurdles (54.8), Korson in the 1600 meter (5:53), and the 3200 relay team of Adams, Freed, Kelly Kerr and Korson.
