TRAVERSE CITY - Norma Loretta Schaub, 87, of Good Harbor, died Monday, May 14 at Munson Medical Center.
Norma was born on Feb. 8, 1920, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Basch) Sheffer in Good Harbor. She was raised on the family farm, where she continued to live. On Dec. 8, 1938, Norma married Carl Schaub at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Suttons Bay. She also raised her family on the family farm.
Norma was very involved with the Senior Companion Program. Her many interests included enjoying a competitive game of rummy, a good game of bingo and an occasional trip to the casino. Norma loved the Detroit Tigers, had a great sense of humor, especially loved her grand and great-grandchildren and appreciated a good Coca-Cola.
In her later years, she enjoyed plucking pansies at her daughter Sheila's greenhouse business, Countryside Gardens. She always focused on helping others first and was an auxiliary member of VFW Cherryland Post #2780.
Norma is survived by her children, G.E. (Hank) Schaub of Anchorage, AK, Cal Schaub of Traverse City, Aaron Schaub of Cedar, Sheila (Ozzie) Osburn of Cedar, and Darwin Schaub of Traverse City; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Norma was also preceded in death by her daughter Sonja Marlin Boch and her siblings Violet Korf, Walt, Orville, John and Buddy Sheffer.
Funeral services were private. Burial is at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations can be directed to Cedar Fire and Rescue, or a charity of choice.
