A new business has opened in the former Board & Bounty ice cream shop in Empire.

Margaret Hodge has opened Anchor Hardware & Gifts on M-22, across from the Village Inn.

“I’m not planning to compete with Home Depot,” she said. “We’ll have sporting goods and stuff for ‘fix it’ projects.”

It’s been seven years since Empire’s full service hardware store, Ace Hardware, closed.
