Exhibit spotlights Lake Michigan lore

The Grand Traverse Heritage Center will open its new exhibit, Mysteries of the Lake: Lake Michigan Legends and Lore, which opens Saturday. The exhibit runs through November.

The exhibition uses an historical narrative starting with Native American legends and continuing through the post-contact history of the lake, including European explorers, voyagers, early sailing vessels, commercial shippings and fishing and recreational boats.

The exhibition will kick off on Saturday with a family fun day from noon to 4 p.m.. followed by a maritime concert in Hannah Park.

Admission to the exhibition is $3 for adults, and $1.50 for children. Those 12 and under will be admitted free. Admission to the concert is by donation.
