Runner raises $500 to support vision programs

Former Leelanau County resident Edward G. Stewart completed the Bayshore Half-Marathon in Traverse City Saturday, May 26 and raised $500 in donations for the local Lions Club International’s vision programs.

Stewart, an optometrist, owns and operates Stewart Family Eye Care in Traverse City.

“I see first-hand how this program helps people in the community,” he said. “It was a nice personal accomplishment for me to complete the race, but it was also a great opportunity professionally to raise awareness and funds for an excellent local program.”

The Lions Club’s vision programs aid blind and visually impaired residents in the 5-county area.

Stewart and his wife, Lisa (Hollenbeck) Stewart, live in Traverse City and are former Leelanau County residents.
