Boy Scout Troop 131 of Suttons Bay held a Court of Honor last week to present awards and merit badges to local scouts.
Benn Bakker received a silver Eagle Palm, signifying that he has earned at least 15 merit badges beyond what he needed for his promotion to Eagle Scout.
Joel Kurek was advanced to Tenderfoot, the second step on the way to becoming an Eagle Scout.
Merit badges in a variety of subjects were also awarded to scouts, including Ren Brabenec, Rein Bruining, Nick Bryan, Eric Chapman, Frank Perkins, Clayton Queen, Jason Steimel, Sean Patterson, Pohai Muller and Kurek.
In addition, four second-year Weblos Cub Scouts were promoted into the Boy Scout troop, including Josiah Bakker, Collin Platts, Garrett Koss and Joel Zemanek.
The troop is planning a camping trip to North Manitou Island, June 8-10, and one to Isle Royale in August.
Any boy who has completed either the fifth grade, had his 11th birthday, or has earned the Arrow of Light Award, is welcome to join the troop.
During the school year, the troop meets at Keswick United Methodist Church on County Road 633 just south of Suttons Bay at 7 p.m. each Tuesday.
