Alan Dunklow, a 2003 graduate of Suttons Bay High School and recent graduate of Grand Valley State University, will be teaching in Baltimore through Teach For America (TFA).

Selected from a field of 19,000 applicants, Dunklow was chosen based on the following skills: leadership, perseverance, personal responsibility, strong critical thinking and the ability to influence and motivate others.

Before leaving for Baltimore, he will participate in TFA’s intensive summer training institute in Philadelphia. He will learn the approach utilized by successful teachers in low-income communities, teach in summer school programs, work with a faculty of experienced educators, and participate in numerous professional development activities.

Dunklow will continue his professional development through TFA’s local training and support resources in Baltimore.

He is the son of Dave and Joan Dunklow of Bingham Township.
