Lake Leelanau writer and artist Duncan Sprattmoran will unveil more than 30 new paintings – watercolor and acrylic – in his latest exhibition, to be presented at the Old Art Building in Leland, June 29 - July 1.
The show displays Sprattmoran’s rendering of Leelanau landscapes.
“Landscapes capture a painter’s emotional response to the world,” Sprattmoran said, “so each painting is a spontaneous yet crafted impression.”
Sprattmoran’s artwork has been represented in exhibitions throughout northern Michigan and has won Best of Show at the Suttons Bay Art Festival, the Petoskey Art Fair and the Algonac Art Fair.
He also teaches middle school language arts and social studies at the Pathfinder School in Greilickville. A published author, Sprattmoran received an Individual Artist Award for Poetry from the State of Michigan Arts Council.
The exhibition opens June 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. and continues through Sunday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Old Art Building is located at 111 S. Main St., in Leland. For more information on the exhibition phone (231) 883-1095 or send an email to jamesd.sprattmoran@gmail.com.
