Five blood drives slated; donors acknowledged

Michigan Community Blood Centers has scheduled five blood donation opportunities in Leelanau County during July, and acknowledged five county residents for achieving new blood donation levels in May.

Blood drives will be held:

• Tuesday, July 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Suttons Bay-Bingham District Library, 416 Front St., in Suttons Bay.
• Tuesday, July 17, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at St. Philip Neri Church, 11411 LaCore Rd., in Empire.
• Wednesday, July 18, 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Church, 103 Warren St., in Northport.
• Tuesday, July 26, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Community Chiropractic Health Center, 489 Main St., in Lake Leelanau.
• Monday, July 30, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Holy Rosary Church, 3919 Gatzke Rd., in Cedar.

Laurie Kupferer of Lake Leelanau has donated nine gallons of blood. Robert Chapman of Suttons Bay has donated seven gallons. Dennis Phillips of Traverse City has donated two gallons of blood, and Randy Drake of Traverse City and Sarah Anderson of Cedar have each donated one gallon.

Michigan Community Blood Centers is the independent, non-profit blood bank that provides 100-percent of the regular blood supply to local hospitals in four major regions of the state including Munson Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals.
