The Friends of the Leelanau Township Library will kick off their Summer Series with author Doug Stanton discussing his book In Harm’s Way on Tuesday, June 26.
The Friends group will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the library in Northport, with the series premiere at 7:30 p.m. In Harm’s Way is a non-fictional account of what happened to the USS Indianapolis in the Pacific Ocean during World War II.
The Summer Series takes a week off for the July 4 holiday, then returns with the following line up:
— July 10, psychiatrist Bob Underhill and author of the book Strawberry Hill will speak on the subject of murder mysteries, “Are We All Mystery Addicts?”;
— July 17, guest writer and Interlochen Arts Academy instructor Aaron Stander will discuss his latest book Color Tour, a sequel to his first murder mystery, Summer People;
— July 24, University of Notre Dame English professor Mary Beth Pope will talk about her book Divining Venus;
— July 31, the series finale, Poetry Night, will be a reading of original works by regional poets.
The public is encouraged to attend. Each presentation starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the library at 386-5131.
