The Glen Lake Community Library will host programs for children and families throughout the summer.
The program will be held each Thursday at 11 a.m. in the library, located on Front Street in Empire. Following is a list of program topics:
• June 28, Martha Mothershead and Janet Clarkston present their book Petoskey Stone Soup;
• July 5, Rebecca Lessard from Wings of Wonder introduces raptors;
• July 12, Filmmaker Rich Brauer presents his latest move That One Summer;
• July 19, Magician Ben Spitzer;
• July 26, Singer and storyteller Bill Jamerson presents lumberjack tales of the Upper Peninsula;
• Aug. 2, Sharon Wiles with butterfly tales and activities;
• Aug. 9, Puppeteer Joyce Davis performs the tale of The Frog Princess;
• Aug. 16, Author Dianne Glupker will make regional treats from her book Great Tastes of Michigan;
• Aug. 23, Nature activities with Sleeping Bear Dunes park naturalists.
Library director David Diller said children are invited to join the summer reading club as well. Participants earn a free book for every 10 they complete, and those that complete reading 20 books receive a book bag.
