A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, June 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City, with visitation one hour prior, for Cedar native Orpha J. Cunningham who died June 10 at the Birchwood Nursing Home. She was 93.
She was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Cedar to Joseph and Josephine (Rosinski) Waclawski. On Aug. 12, 1932, in Traverse City, she married Boyd Cunningham, who preceded her in death.
She retired from Burwoods in Traverse City. She was a long-time member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she was a senior member of the choir. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing, music and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by siblings, Blanche Jozwiak of Illinois, Leona Busch of Shelby Township, Joe (Joanne) Waclawski of Traverse City, Alice J. Waclawski of Traverse City and Andrew Waclawski of Traverse City.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas J.; and siblings, Isadore Waclawski, Edmond, Leonard, Noah, Clem and Michaeline Novak.
Burial will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Francis Choir or Mass Intentions.
