SEVEN PLAYERS from Leelanau County schools took part in the seventh annual "Near/Far" baseball game at Traverse City Central High School on Wednesday, June 13.

The “Team Near” schools included senior players from Glen Lake, St. Mary, Suttons Bay, Traverse City West, Traverse City Central, Traverse City Christian, Elk Rapids and Kingsley, while the “Team Far” squads came from Benzie Central, Leland, Grayling, Mesick, East Jordan, Boyne City, Gaylord and Charlevoix.

Team Near was behind 7-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, but rallied to win 8-7 when Glen Lake’s Weston Buchan scored from second base on a base hit.
