Warm weather is here and its time for me to remind everyone to slow down when passing through Omena. That means you truckers, too.

I recently spoke with Tony of Leelanau Wine Cellars and was told that he was quite sure that the restaurant in Omena is in our near future. How do you feel about the new color of the winery? Inside sources tell me that people either hate or love it. We also spoke about the progress of the underground utilities project. Not much to update you on except that the initial study is under way.

The barn swallows have moved out of the winery and are trying hard to colonize at the Tamarack and post office. The swallows’ unique flight and nests make them a fun bird to watch, although a bit messy for a public building.
