Inspections Department is focus of talks on "procedures"

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners' Inspections Department Subcommittee will hold a meeting tomorrow, June 29, at 9 a.m. in the county's River Office Building meeting room in Leland.

Victims of strawberry stand theft bounce back

Peter and Christina Rennie, whose strawberry stand was robbed on June 15, are bouncing back from the incident. The siblings received a $100 check from a Charlevoix couple, and plan to donate it to the Fresh Food Partnership. Read related story.

Philip Brown of Elmwood promoted to sergeant

Samantha L. Garthe, daughter of Carl and Shirley Garthe of Lake Leelanau, was named to the dean's list at Madonna University for spring semester 2007.
Garthe is a 2006 graduate of St. Mary School.

Ten county students on honors list from Ferris

Ten Leelanau County students received academic honors from Ferris State University for the spring 2007 term. Students on the list have maintained a grade point average of a 3.4 or above.
