Glen Lake area
10 a.m. — The Glen Lake Woman’s Club hosts a traditional flag raising ceremony with patriot singing at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds on Burdickville Road in Burdickville. Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Bernie Filbert, former pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor. Pat Kann is master of ceremonies and will lead in song.
Noon — Glen Haven-Glen Arbor July 4 Parade. Traditionally an unorthodox and entertaining event, participants start lining up in Glen Haven at 11:15 a.m. Anyone who wants to take part may do so, but be in line as the parade leaves Glen Haven promptly at 11:45 a.m.
3:30 p.m. — Second annual Glen Lake July 4 Boat Parade. Meet in front of the Glen Lake Yacht Club then proceed west through the Narrows.
Leland
July 3
8 p.m. — Patriotic Hymn Sing at the Village Green.
Dusk — Fireworks display, shot off of Van’s Beach
July 4
10 a.m. — Ladies Day Coffee, Leland Firehouse, hosted by the International Coffee Club of America. It’s the only time women are “officially” allowed to the daily gathering of old men and stories.
1 p.m. — Children’s bike decoration for parade, on the lawn in front of the Old Art Building.
3 p.m. — Annual July Parade with the theme “Let Freedom Ring.” Entrants line up starting at 2:30 p.m. on Reynolds Street. Parade, and proceed north on M-22. They wind up at the Village Green where awards are bestowed. Entry forms available at the Leland Post Office, the Bluebird Restaurant, Leland.com & Venture Properties.
7 p.m. — Blind Dog Hank, a blues band, will perform on the lawn next to the Leland Harbor. The concert is sponsored by the Leland Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
Northport
Noon-4 p.m. — An annual volleyball tournament at the marina beach features teams made up of friends, family or any combination. To register, call the Northport/Omena Chamber of Commerce at 386-7303.
5-10 p.m. — Live Music at the Marina Pavilion with Chris McCann and Sam Busk, the Village Voices and Northport Community Band, and Due North. After the fireworks, Due North will perform again.
After Dusk — Fireworks over Northport Bay.
Greilickville
12:30 p.m. — Grand Traverse Yacht Club regatta fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Grand Traverse Yacht Club, M-22, Greilickville, just north of Apache Trout Grill. A dinner and silent auction will follow from 5-11 p.m. The clubhouse is located off M-22 just north of Apache Trout Grill.
10:15 p.m. — Fireworks show over West Grand Traverse Bay.
