Three Leelanau County residents were elected to leadership positions on the Cherryland Electric Cooperative board of directors at the cooperative’s annual meeting.
The county residents chosen to the seven-person board include president Tom Van Pelt of Leelanau Township, senior vice president Terry Lautner of Elmwood Township, and secretary Melinda Lautner of Solon Township.
More than 400 Cherryland members attended the annual meeting at Cherryland’s office in Grawn. Terry Lautner was one of the three members of the board to earn re-election among the 1,400 votes cast by cooperative members.
The annual meeting included a cookout-style dinner, business meeting and wellness checkups from Munson Medical Center, the Northwestern Michigan Bloodmobile and the Blair Township EMS unit.
In addition, Cherryland employees were available to answer questions about the new automated meter reading system, as well as energy facts and billing procedures.
At the conclusion of the meeting more than 30 gifts were awarded to members of the audience.
