Don't forget the Glen Arbor Fire & Rescue Dept. pancake breakfast on Sunday, July 1, starting at 8 a.m. Great men and women, and a great cause.
The Glen Arbor Art Association sponsored races on Saturday, and Jamie Haley won her class in the 5k event. Jamie walked the course in under and hour. I hope Jamie doesn't mind, but she was born in 1920. Congratulations to a really good lady.
Now the other side of the coin: Dotti, Joan and Stacey walked the entire six miles for team Glen Arbor on the MS walk in Traverse City. It took them approximately three hours; of course, a few things got in their way, such as garage sales and the Farmers Market. Congratulations to them for going the distance.
It's good to see Manitou being repaved; it was pretty torn up from all the construction at the end of the street.
Happy 61st birthday George Bush on July 6 and Gene Thompson, who is older.
I am very disappointed to learn that there is another midnight skulker in the area. One is just goofy and the other is obviously very misguided. The second left a newspaper article taped to the door of Dune Dogs regarding the fact that the North siders beat the South siders in a three-game series. I for one am a little happy for the skulker in that there is so little for the North siders to be happy about, and they are always "waiting until next year."
The Glen Lake Woman's Club’s next meeting will be on Wednesday July 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the Old Settlers picnic grounds. The program is Nancy Poffenberger's motivational talk, "Stirring your creative juices after 50." Poffenberger is also the author of music and children's books. For more information, call Alyce 334-6087.
Back to running: the Glen Arbor Women's Club will be holding its inaugural Running Bear 5k Run/Walk and Kids Run on July 31. More later.
