Following USEA in order of overall finish was Doug Kilgren in Great Expectations, first in the large boat class, then Ted Peterson in Birgitta.

Rounding out the large boat class were Tom and Steve Wetherbee finishing third in Suzy. They were followed by small boat class second place finisher Bob Mills in Phase Two and Dick Parker in Lake Effect.

Chris Woomer, the Northport Bay Yacht Club vice commodore, said she was very pleased with the finish.

“Thirteen boats all finished the 11-mile course in a 17-minute time window,” she said, “a very consistent result given the light and variable winds over this course.”

Best start honors went to Dick Allen in Ragtime who crossed the starting line only three seconds from his scheduled staggered start assignment.

The next race, on Saturday, will be the Ladies Race. It will include a breakfast at 9 a.m. preceding the 10:30 a.m. captains’ meeting at the Northport Marina.

To succeed, a lady must be at the helm for at least one full leg of the course and for the finish.
