Black Star Farms was among wineries from seven Midwest states and Ontario to compete in the 12th annual Great Lakes Wine Competition, and the only one to earn two Double Gold awards.
The event was held on June 7 at Oakland Community College.
Black Star Farms winemaker Lee Lutes was presented with 17 medals, including Double Gold honors for the 2004 Leorie Vineyard Merlot/Cabernet Franc, and the Sirius Raspberry. Black Star Farms is located in Bingham Township.
Gold honors were also awarded to Black Star Farms’ Arcturos 2005 Cabernet Franc, Arcturos 2005 Pinot Gris, and 2004 Sparkling. Seven silver medals and five bronze medals were also awarded to Black Star Farms.
Bel Lago Vineyards in Solon Township also received a gold medal for its Auxerrois 2006.
