A YOUNG bald eagle on the porch of a home owned by Jerry and Betty Scott on South Sandbar Drive near Cedar. The Scott’s daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bill BeVier of Jackson, saw the eagle after it crashed into some trees and called the Department of Natural Resources to investigate. Conservation officer Mike Borkovich told the BeViers that the eagle likely wasn’t injured, but just stunned hitting the trees. The young eagle has been a regular visitor in the neighborhood, and was even seen peering through the screen door of the Scott’s home. Borkovich said a short while later, the eagle went airborne and was last seen heading south along Lake Leelanau. Photos courtesy of Melissa BeVier
