By the time you read this, the new restaurant "Knot just a bar" in Omena should be up and running. I've not been there yet; look for a critique next week.
As we do every year on July 4, the Coste family had dinner on our boat and then enjoyed the great fireworks display Northport is known for by anyone familiar with the Grand Traverse area. Great job, Northport, and thanks. Our evening didn’t end on such a bright note though. On our way back to Omena our boat hit a very large rock in Ingalls Bay just off shore from the home of Pete Vallin.
The reason I bore you with all the above is to tell you about three of the fine people of Omena. Bill Kulic, Pete and Ann Vallin came out to help us with the boat, then offered to give us all a ride home to Omena. At 1 a.m., not all folks are so eager to help someone. People like these three are just one of the reasons living in Leelanau is so enjoyable. A big thanks to Bill, Pete and Ann. Without your help our evening could have been much worse.
And a special thanks to Mike Bosco & Sons towing service. The next day we enjoyed a quiet tow back to a safe port. Thanks, Mike.
