The Manitou Music Festival will present its Arts Collage concert on July 21 at the Lake Street Studio Stage in Glen Arbor.
The event offers a unique mixture of performance genres. The mission of the Arts Collage is to “explore the possible, to chart the conceivable and pave the way for what’s coming next.”
The concert is headlined by the ensemble Jazz North, familiar to audiences in the Leelanau and Grand Traverse area. Returning to this year’s event is the opening act, The Urboringines, a fusion band from Ann Arbor; Gen Obata, a roots and folk musician based in St. Louis; and film maker Andrea Maio of Madison, Wis. New to this year’s lineup are the ZanDance Modern Dance. Co. from Ann Arbor, and Mike Perrine, the writer-in-residence at Lake Street Studios. A performance by Paul Spence, the “itinerant philosopher and arts theologian,” is also on the bill.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and available at the Glen Arbor Arts Association, Lake Street Studios in Glen Arbor, Cedar City Market in Cedar, and Oryana Food Cooperative in Traverse City.
