Dale R. Steimel

1960 - 2007

Services were held Friday at St. Michael’s Parish in Suttons Bay for Dale R. Steimel of Lake Leelanau who died July 1 at his home. He was 47.

He was born Jan. 26, 1960, in Traverse City, the son of the late Donald Steimel and Charlene (Houdek) Steimel, who survives. On Aug. 29, 1981, at St. Michael’s Parish in Suttons Bay, he married Mary Ann “Lovee” Ehlinger, who survives.

He worked in the cherry industry all his life. He farmed his own orchards for decades and later was an agricultural chemical sales representative to local cherry farmers. A sportsman, he loved to hunt and once took his entire family on a hunting trip to Africa.

Also surviving are his three daughters, Tiffany Ann, Mindy Mae and Nikki Kay Steimel; a brother, Alfred “Buzz” (Debbi) Steimel; two sisters, Loraine (Jerry) McNeil and Connie (Denny) Maxon.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Gary Steimel.
