The Northport Board of Education selected new officers for the 2007-08 school year and moved its meeting date.

The board approved Denise Branch as the president, replacing Lois Counterman. New members Denise Sica and Bonnie Shiner were elected vice-president and secretary, respectively, and Susan Cordes was approved as treasurer.

Superintendent Tyrus Wessell said in a phone report Tuesday the board also approved a new meeting date. The board will now meet on the second Monday of each month for its regular business meeting and will meet on the fourth Monday of the month for its work sessions. Both meetings will start at 7 p.m. and will be held in the school library.

The board had previously held its meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. “The board moved to the second and fourth Monday to avoid conflicts with school athletic events,” Wessell said.
