Glen Lake News July 19, 2007

Anchor Days this weekend in Empire has a parade that you can watch twice, plus many other events. The Empire Lions Club will hold its annual chicken BBQ starting at 2 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. at the Empire town hall. The chicken is great and for a good organization.

Speaking of the Empire Lions, the club lost one of the last charter members, Jack Lambkin. He will be missed.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Art Baker, a nice man and family.

The friends of the Glen Lake Community Library will host their home tour on Thursday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Purchase tickets from members of the friends of the library or the Glen Lake Garden Club. Tickets are also available at the Cottage Book Shop. Tickets must be pre-purchased.

Happy very belated 80th Birthday to Elaine Wilcox.

The first annual Running Bear 5K Run/Walk and Kids Run will be held on Tuesday, July 31 rain or shine. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and starts and ends at Cherry Republic.

We are in about the middle of the summer season. Just remember all you locals, be nice. To the visitors, welcome and try to remember to act like your at home, or maybe not.

Go Sox.
