Twelve-year-old Parker Kokowicz of Glen Arbor, ranked No. 2 in the Boys 12 division in northern Michigan, won the United States Tennis Association’s North Country Junior Class Boys 12 singles title earlier this month.
Kokowicz, who was seeded No. 1, defeated sixth-seeded Colby Seamster of McKinney, Texas, 6-4, 7-5 for the title.
Kokowicz also participated in the Boys 14 singles competition. He defeated the No. 3 and No. 1 seeded players to reach the finals before losing to Connor Osgood of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He won eight matches and lost one in the Petoskey tournament held over the Fourth of July holiday.
