The Great Lakes Children's Museum in Elmwood Township will offer fly fishing classes for children age 10 to 15 through Aug. 15.
Classes will be offered from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Some travel may be required for the “on-the-river” sessions. The cost for the six sessions is $75 ($65 for members) .
Topics will include an introduction to rivers, entomology, knots and tackle, fly tying, and casting. Capable and skilled volunteers from the Adams Chapter of Trout Unlimited will deliver the program.
The children’s museum and the Traverse City Beach Bums will join forces Saturday when the Bums host the Rockford Riverhawks. The first 500 children (12 and under) through the gates will receive a free Beach Bums/Great Lakes Children’s Museum T-shirt.
A deluxe family fun package, valued at more than $500, will also be given away at the game as part of a raffle. Tickets are $2 each for three for $5.
