Woman facing assault charge

A Peshawbestown woman was arraigned Monday for allegedly assaulting a man with a glass.

Melonie B. Moses, 37, of 2592 N. Beems Kwa Ma Mikun, Suttons Bay, appeared in 86th District Court on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 3 at 10:15 a.m. She is free on bond.

According to the felony complaint on file with court records, on the evening of July 15 county Sheriff deputies were called to investigate a possible domestic violence situation. The victim had allegedly asked Moses to turn down loud music she was playing so he could sleep. The man was on a couch in the living room when Moses allegedly struck him in the head with a glass, causing a cut that required medical treatment.

If found guilty of the felony offense, Moses faces a maximum penalty of up to four years in prison and or up to a $2,000 fine.
