Award-winning Michigan author Dorene O'Brien will appear in the county twice next month reading excerpts from her most recent work, Voices of the Lost and Found.
The book, published by Wayne State University Press as part of the “Made in Michigan Writer’s Series,” features 11 short stories narrated by a diverse array of characters.
O’Brien’s previous works have won major literary awards, such as the New Millennium Fiction Award, the Chicago Tribune Nelson Algren award, and International Bridport Prize. She also received a creative writing grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
She will be signing copies of her new book at Leelanau Books in Leland on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 1-2:30 p.m. and give a reading at the Painted Horse Gallery in Northport, in conjunction with Dog Ears Books, on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m.
